Stop at Prien??

After Munich , our next base would be to Salzburg.

What l want to know is , when buying a Bayern tix to go to Salzburg, do u have to specify that you want to stop at Prien, as we would like to see the Palace there on our way to Salzburg?

Also if the train leaves at 8.54 am on a w/day (as my searches show ) would l need to pay full fare or would it be best to wait till the next train which is @ an hr later?

On a working day ticket valid from 09:00.

You do not specify a stop when you purchase a Bayern Ticket.

It's a day ticket so you can hop on and off the trains where ever you want in Bavaria.

Just be aware of the terms and conditions of use.

Technically yes if it's a working day.

I know some people get around this by buying a ticket to a stop that is post 09:00 and buy a Bayern ticket.

Show the relevant ticket based on what time you are asked to present a ticket.

So buy a ticket from the main station HBF to Munich Ost (east) which stops at 09:04.

Then use your Bayern for the rest of the day.

You could of course catch a S Bahn train to Munich Ost earlier on. Then jump on the Meridian train at 09:04.

You could purchase your Bayern at the same time as your S Bahn ticket.

So if l bought the Bayern tix Before 9 am, & had it validated /stamped then; but also the tix to Munich Ost , then if asked to show the tix AFTER 9 am & showed the bayern tix there wouldn't be a problem???

also thank you for your help Staff Austria...

Oh just tried to look up Munich Ost, but it doesn't show up on my 'drop down' list on the DB- BAHN site

The Bayern ticket is not validated like the say the U Bahn tickets.

Buy ticket for the date you want to travel (Default is the current date). You have to fill in the names of the passengers on the ticket. That's it validated. The names are to prevent fraudulent use.

on DB Bahn enter München Ost

For the local S bahn enter from München Hbf to München Ost

You will see there are loads of different trains all marked with an S. Or you can use the Underground. U5 line runs between the two stations.

You need to enter as München Ost not Munich Ost.

You will not see the cost for a short trip.

It's going to be so cheap it's not worth worrying about.

You could just get a Underground or S Bahn to Ost before 09:04. Then use the Bayern.
