Cash withdrawal problems in Crus

Hi

We're coming over to Paphos for two weeks self catering. We will probably eat out at least 7 nights plus lunches out. Also want to hire a car for three or four days. Anybody have an idea of how much cash to bring? Are shops and restaurants taking cards or would they prefer cash? Thx for any info.

Can we continue to pay our hotel bills with a credit card? Or do we need to take lots of Euros! Have heard that it's a cash only island now....

Hi all, I live here in Paphos and work in a hotel. There is no problem at all with money here in Cyprus, the restrictions are only for the Cypriots, you can still withdraw money from ATM's as well as pay with your credit card. Even when banks were closed we could pay with credit cards and take money out of the ATM. There are some registrictions on two specific banks with cash withdraw. These measures are only for a short time, already today some restrictions were withdrawn. There is no need to worry, we all work as usual, accept money, change money, accept credit card or debit cards and we all look forward to welcoming you to our lovely island. Media always tends to exaggerate! Cyprus is still a lovely island and safe to be here.
