As new visitors to Cyprus we have booked the Ledra Beach Hotel. Please can anyone provide us with good, positive things to say about hotel
excellent hotel - we stayed before it changed to all inclusive and had our wedding
reception there- the food is excellent
as most all inclusive hotels in europe leave a lot to be desired- kids facilties are
good- staff are really friendly you are about 5 mins walk to a selectin of bars and restaurants and about 30 mins
stroll to harbour which is lovely especially
if you walk along the beach front.
recommend you book sea view if you already havent done- enjoy
I went to the Ledra Beach with my mum on 15 November and we stayed for a week.
We were very concerned prior to going as we had read such mixed reports. So worried in fact that at 38 I applied for my first credit card!!! We were convinced that we would be eating out a lot and avoiding staying in the hotel!
Well, I can only say that the people who wrote the bad reviews must be a bunch of complete idiots. We had an absolutely fantastic time. The food was just superb. Though I say so myself, I am a very good cook (so is my mum) and we thought the food was great. Admittedly you are not going to get the typically Greek/Cypriot food that you would get in a beach side taverna, but to stay in a hotel and expect that would be unreasonable. Saying that while we were there on the menu was Beef Stifado, Lamb Kleftiko, Dolmades, Greek Pork chops, Chicken kebabs (these were a little dry). There was always a selection of rice, pasta, potatoes and often cous cous, fresh vegetables, salad and a carvery offering three different roasts. Don't foget to look at the back of the restaurant at the carvery counter where there was always another selection of food. Make sure you pack clothes with elasticated waists!!!!
We had no problems with our room and from other reviews I have read, if you get a bad room request to change it. We found the staff at the hotel very helpful at all times. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are very attentive. The animation team work extremely hard (wasn't my sort of thing but hey we are all different).
A few people have moaned about the smokiness. I didn't have a problem with it but I am an occasional smoker. My mum is an ex smoker who hates it. In the non smoking lounge it was no problem, in the lounge bar mum found it too smoky - this is where the entertainment was. Also there was some entertainment in the TV lounge which is right next to the bar and smoking area. Not a problem for me but might be for non smokers.
The waiter service in the evening was excellent, no queueing at the bar. The staff work exceptionally hard and we found them charming. Mum and I learnt please and thank you in about seven different languages!!
This was my first holiday with my mum since I was 16. I was away with no husband and no kids, therefore, no washing, ironing, cleaning, no breaking up of arguments or any of the usual stresses of daily life... I was relaxed and ready to enjoy myself and I really really did. Just thinking of the holiday puts a smile on my face. Maybe the two proposals helped! If you go feeling positive I'm sure you'll have a great time. Look for the bad and you will always find it.
Hope this has helped. Have a a great time.
