Places to stay and transport, winter

I would like to visit Vaduz in December (26-28 or 27-29, basically between Christmas and NYE). I will be staying in Munich, so I have two questions:

1) What is the best way to get from Munich to Vaduz with public transport?

2) Where is the best place to stay, if I decide that Vaduz is out of my price range? Looking for about $75-80 US/night.

I am also curious about visiting other cities on the "path" from Munich to Vaduz, and would be willing to to a one-two night stopover if that is a good idea.

Thank you!

Hello AndreaRae13,

1/ Best is train to Feldkirch then Bus to Vaduz (no train station in Vaduz). Schedules and price on:

http://www.sbb.ch/en

You can enter "Vaduz Post" as final destination.

2/ For lodging, why don't you try

tourismus.li/en/…hotels-search-book.html

Vaduz itself is probably beyond the budget you mentioned. However http://www.suecka.li/ could be fun. It is in the mountain at about 15-20 minutes by bus from Vaduz. For the last bit, the owners would pick you up down their road (unless you'd like to walk for about 15 minutes). The way down is on sledge! :-) I've never slept there but had dinner (tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g190370-d3…) and visited the facilities. Alternatively, you might find cheap possibilities in Feldkirch or in Buchs, SG.

Regarding stopovers, it depends on the route you'll select (via Lindau by the Konstanzsee or via Insbruck). I can't help though, I am afraid, as I usually come from the West...

Hope this helps.

I am thinking now that I will go to Fussen as well. Is it better to go to Vaduz first or Fussen first? What is the best train route to accomplish this? Thanks!

The best is to check by yourself on http://www.sbb.ch/en. You could for instance write Vaduz as a destination, "via" Füssen and see what the result is.
