Six hours in La Valletta

Hi everyone,

We would love to spend more time in Valletta, but this time I´m afraid its a five hour stop on a cruise ship, so any suggestions of how best to spend out time there would be appreciated. Nothing too taxing, just want yo know which places would be cool to wander around and get a feel of the place?

Valletta is a very small capital and you can walk from one end to the other in about 15 minutes.

Spend your time strolling around the narrow streets. It is impossible to get lost because all the streets are on a grid system.

It is well worth visiting the St John`s cathederal --- very impresive.

Also make sure to spend some time in the Upper Barakka Gardens with the fabulous views over the Grand Harbour. One of the best views in the world.!!

You will find lots of nice cafes and bars for a coffee , tea or a beer.

Lots of places to eat.

There is lots to see and do in Valletta .

The War museum , the Archeological museum , Art gallery and much much more.

Sure you will enjoy your visit.

I agree with Graham, you will only really have time for Valletta. Places mentioned by Graham but also St. John's Co-Cathedral (there is no where else like it), Grand Master's Palace.

There are some Top Questions on the right regarding short cruise stops. Have you thought how you're going to reach the city ? The Cruise Terminal is , obviously, at sea level while to reach the city you have to walk up hill. It is rather steep but not extraordinarily so.

You can of course take a taxi (about a 5 min ride) or a bus which stops near the exit of the Terminal. Then walk down from near the Upper Barakka Gardens.

There is also a sort of tunnel on the left of the main road (karozzini/horse drawn cabs stand) which leads to a lift to the CCP car park which is just outside the city.
