Airwaves Music Festival in October"

I am planning to go to festival this year, but also want to make at least one excursion. What would be the top choice at that time of the year? Any other suggestions for must see or do places?

I am not on a budget for once and am a woman traveling with another woman.

Hi loladeflores,

It all depends on how packed your Airwaves schedule is. How many days do you think you will be able to go on excursions?

I will only be in Iceland for 4 days and hope to have one full day and one half day to tour.

Hi again loladeflores,

Sorry for the late reply. So, you only have a one and a half day for excursions, but there are so many things to see! Some suggestions (most of them require you to rent a car):

A popular excursion is the Golden Circle tour, taking you to Thingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss.

The Reykjanes Peninsula is a good choice for a half to whole day. Dramatic volcanic landscapes and lava fields. See more on http://www.visitreykjanes.is/.

Another interesting place is the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and a trip there will last a day. If you have time at the end of the day you can visit the Borgarfjordur area for many interesting sights. See more on http://www.west.is/home.

One of my favorite places is the Thjorsardalur valley, close to Hekla volcano. See …wikipedia.org/wiki/…A1rdalur for more info.

I hope this helps! A one last suggestion: Don’t forget to visit one of the local geothermal pools for some relaxation in the hot, healthy, mineral rich geothermal water. Every village has at least one geothermal pool and the hot water make it a special experience going to the pools in cold weather. Reykjavik and the surrounding area has many good pools.
