£8 a pint is not true. But £5 is true if you buy your neer in Nyhavn or the squares in the city center.

Plenty of places where you can buy beer for £2, but you gotta stray off the beaten path and look for the more local typers of bodegas/taverns.

I would allways catch a train from the airport, it is by fra the cheapest and will earn you many beers ; )

And I must agree with Don T. If you choose to get caught in a touristtrap, then it is your own fault. And that is the case in all cities of the world. walk 200 meters down a side street and you will find something cheaper and more genuine. If you tell us what kind of place you like to find, maybe we can even give you a few advices.

A good beer at one of the better Copenhagen beer bars such as Plan B, Lord Nelson or Øl Bar will cost you from 45 kr to 55 kr a pint which works out to roughly 5 GBP or so. I'd recommend hitting at least one of these places, though, just to get a taste of some of the nicer Danish beers that are now being brewed. Downtown haunts cost about the same, although I've seen Belgian and German beers by the pint somewhat cheaper at many of the bars. Bang og Jensen has decent prices on beer and a nice wordly atmosphere while not being a smoke-filled bodega.

I've paid 60 dkk for a glass of Hoegaarden outside at a Nyhavn bar. Lots of people buy bottles of beer at the local shops and just drink them alongside the harbor though, like others suggest.
