Fine Dining Top Pick

We'll be in Copenhagen for 3 days and will use many of the less expensive dining options outlined in recent threads for most of our meals. We'd like one "special" meal while we're in town though. We're partial to clear, bright, orginal flavors and not so much to heavy or butter/cream laden dishes or to pretentious/stiff places. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Perhaps Noma on Strandgade? Modern nordic kitchen. Very popular.

It's closed for the summer between July 13th and August 3rd.

Thanks DonTomas. We'll be there July 29, 30 and 31 leaving August 1. Your next favorite pick? Thanks.

Here are two of our favorite restaurants for fine dining.

Konrad at Pilestræde 12-14 Food has always been wonderful and it is gourmet, but on the nouveau side.

Grønnegade 39 (address is same as restaurant name) This restaurant is just as good, but much more charming and intimate. I think the building is from the 1600's.

Reservations are needed for both.

Like you, we do NOT enjoy pretentious and stuffy restaurants so my advice would be to stay away from Cafe Victor.

Even if Noma wasn't closed getting a table is next to impossible for dinner. I've tried for four weeks now.

I'm sorry to say that the suggestion from previous poster, Konrad, is closed.

My suggestions would be:

Restaurant Paustian - http://www.restaurantpaustian.dk/en/intro/

The Paul in Tivoli - http://www.thepaul.dk/

Herman in Tivoli - http://www.nimb.dk - they are working on a better website and it probably will be up soom.

All of the above are very expensive even by Danish standard, but they are also very enjoyable and a way to keep the price down is to stay away form the wine menues.

I have no idea if you'll find them stiff/pretentious - you were asking for top picks, and they are. There are no dress codes.
