Copenhagen Early April

We are going to be in Copenhagen around April 5-7th. Given the usual weather during this time, are there certain places/attractions we should skip and others we should focus on? Also - any good restaurant recommendations for solo diners? One of us is going for business, the other just to tag along...

hi

For solo diners I would recommend Wagamama, Tietgensgade 20, København V, tlf. 33 75 06 58, www.wagamama.dk, - not Danish, - asian. Informal, moderate prices. Temperature in Cph is not to be predicte, - on a cold and windy day avoid a boat tour on the canal. T

We had a similar question regarding activities albeit we shall be there the week prior. What would be the expected hi / low for the last week of March / first week of April? By this time is it always above 0C?

Late march/early april is usually above 0 degrees, but you can't be absolutely sure. On the other hand if you are lucky you will find yourself in the middle of the Danish spring which means temperatures above 10 degrees and plenty of sunshine.. It's totally unpredictable... ;o)

April is a tricky month in Denmark, so check the weather forecast and come prepared. Same advice goes for your choice of attractions.

The canal cruise starting from Nyhavn (btw, the 'Netto' boats are much cheaper than the DFDS boats, and it's exactly the same guided tour, only with fewer stops) is wonderful on a sunny, not too windy day. On the other hand it's good to pick out a selection of museums as a back-up plan, e.g. The National Museum and Rosenborg Castle if you're into history. The State Museum of Art and Museum of Design (Kunstindustrimuseet) are also good choices. Most of the attractions are centrally located, so they can easily be reached by foot. Or try one of the free city bikes (20 dkr. deposit).

For solo dining I would opt for one of the many cafés. Straedet, that runs parallel to the main shopping street, Stroeget, is a pretty street with many good cafés (and shops). Zirup and Lazlo are among my favourites. If the weather permits, you can sit outside. If the weather is really nice, go for the cafés and restaurants at Gammel Strand (by the canal). On saturday mornings, this is also the location of a popular antiques market.

The danish climate is fairly mild all year round. Mostly because of the Gulf stream. However, bring some warm clothes because April is one tricky month
