where to go in july ?

We are a couple in our 50's who like to have a resort which is quite busy and not too quiet , and has lots of nice bars and restaurants.

We would also like a nice beach and hotel/apartments near the beach or on the beach. We also want somewhere which is quite traditional greek and not too english. We also want to sight see by car so need somewhere which is ideal for that too.

we are hoping to go in summer 2013

any good suggestions for a resort/acomodation ? thanks

Hi Sylv...Welcome to the Corfu forum!

You could try Agios Georgios, San Stephanos, Arillas... all very traditional lovely places.

Houmis apartments www.houmis.com/index.php?lang=en&menu=home in Agios Georgios North http://www.agiosgeorgiospagi-bliss.com/ and http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/index.html would fit the bill.

Messonghi is lovely. Very 'Greek', easy to walk to neighbouring Moraitika for a bit of night life if you want it. Good car hire available and lovely restaurants in Messonghi itself. Beach may be the only down-side as it's not so much sandy as pebbly, but is shallow and calm.

Galini Beach Apartments come highly recommended. They are right on the beach.

Busy and traditional is a bit difficult. Almost all resorts are offshoots of the traditional villages that lie a little inland and usually on a hillsdie. Of those already mentioned, Messonghi is perhaps the closest, but it is small and quiet. Benitses has a village plus plenty of entertainment, as does Roda, and both are good centres for exploration of the island.
