Thiss is a message I sent to a lady in the States earlier today, it must be holiday booking time of year.
It might give you a bit more info.
Regarding booking a room, I would for the first night as the sea cat gets in quite late (even though there will be landlords/ladies trying to sell you a room as you disembark).
We just booked the first night then after having a look around, decided where we wanted to be.
The sea cat doesn't need booking, you can pay on the quay at Rhodes but if you want chapter and verse look up Stefenakis Travel in Tilos (Google them, I don't have their website to hand!) and they are very helpful with times etc
Why am I doing this, I want to keep Tilos our own secret!!
Seriously though, have a great time, you won't do a lot but that's the main reason for going!

We are planning to visit Tilos in September 2011, and I just read your great review. Nautilos Rooms sounds wonderful. Can you tell me, is Nautilos near Livadia? We always prefer to be close to town. And was there ever a problem with noise from the restaurant?
We'll be arriving on a late-evening ferry so will need to have a room arranged when we arrive, at least for the first night or two. Nautilos looks like a good choice!
Thanks for your help.
Nautilos was great for us (we went in late June). Everything on Tilos is in Livadia and Nautilos is right in the middle, 10metres from the beach. The beach, like all beaches is pebbles but they have plenty of sun loungers for people staying.
There are only 4 or 5 apartments and they are well furnished though the beds are a little 'Greek' (ie quite hard!). The rooms are fairly spacious, good showers, small galley kitchen with fridge and cooker and basin.
We stayed at about 6 apartments while in Tilos and found Nautilos the best. The owners are lovely and there's no pressure to eat in the taverna if you don't want to. We were on a budget so ate there twice but also tried other places. Often we just bought salad and some meat and cheap wine and ate on the table outside our room.
We were there during the World Cup, but other than when Greece were playing there was no problem with any noise. But Tilos/Livadia is not a noisy place, in fact you'll be pushed to find a drink after 11.00!!
I hope you love it as much as we did. We had planned to island hop but apart from a night on Symi (which we hated, although it's prettier than Tilos, just FAR too many people!) we ended up staying all 2 weeks on Tilos.
Re price of the apartment, Greece is a basket case re finances! Cash is everything, we never got a receipt for anything. Luckily there's a cash machine in Livadia though I'm told it doesnt always work! I think we paid 30/35 Euro per night though they ask for 45E. Haggle gently...they expect it!
Hope you have a great time, any other advice just let me know
