I've never been to Northern Portugal before and after doing a bit of research, Viana do Castelo seems a perfect place - but I know nothing about it! Ideally, we'd like to rent a flat very near to the beach in a nice area, but within walking distance to restaurants, shops and bars. We love going for morning walks on the beaches in Portugal, so access to the beach would be great. What parts of Viana do Castelo are the nicest, but also lively (though not too lively)? We're mellow people and not looking for night clubs, just relaxed bars, cafes and restaurants. The historic area looks gorgeous too. Any info you can provide would be most helpful!
