Miragem Hotel

My Wife and I are coming to Cascais for a week in mid august and staying at the Miragem Hotel. We are used to staying at upscale , really nice hotels, like four seasons, intercontinental, and W hotels if availible in location.

We are both in our early 30's.

Will this hotel be ok?

we want to relax mostly during the day at the pool or beach , and maybe sight see here and there.

Also I'm looking for great Restaurant reccomendations from the priciest to the down and dirty good food type places.

same for nightlife.

thanks in advance

1. Re: Miragem Hotel

Hi and greetings from sunny and warm Lisbon!

The Cascais Miragem hotel it is not bad, however if you are used to Fourseasons service you definitely should try something better than the Miragem.

Since you want to go to Cascais area I would suggest:

http://www.albatrozhotels.com/

or

http://www.hotelvillaitalia.com/

In Cascais area you have great fish Restaurants like "Porto de Santa Maria" or "Luz Mar"

Restaurants in Lisbon area:

Olivier (cozy Portuguese atmosphere)

Bica do Sapato (very trendy and fashion resaturant)

Tasquinha da Adelaide (very traditional)

Alcantara Cafe (a mixture of art deco and fashionable restored ware house)

Casa do Leao (inside St. George's Castle)

Nighlife:

Docks area (in Lisbon and Cascais)

Tamariz (Cascais)

Lux (Lisbon)

If you try all this option without and doubt you will love your stay!

Anything else u need pls let me know!

Regards,

MSG

2. Re: Miragem Hotel

I second the first reply about the the sugestions on hotels in Cascais. Don't stay at the Miragem if you are used to Four Seasons standards and choose either the Albatroz or the Grande Real Villa Italia. The Miragem is no way on those standards.

I would go for the Real Villa Italia, , just opened in March , with an excellent spa ( you won't get it at the Albatroz) and their chef used to be the chef of the " Bica do Sapato" ( one of the best restaurants in Lisbon).

Rooms are amazing, views to die for and top notch service. Recently Athena Onassis and the Princes of Saudi Arabia stayed there....just to name a few!!!

3. Re: Miragem Hotel

Well we are here, and couldn't be happier. We kept our reservations at the the Miragem and are both quite happy. This is a very big, and luxurious hotel with a SPA and a great gym (I work out daily at home) the pool area is really nice. The deluxe room is quite big, the bathroom with separate shower with glass door, from big bathtub.

I can see the draw to the Albitroz, a small quaint botique hotel, but that hotel may not have all the ameneties this one does.

I thank you for your help, and ask now for some great places to go out at night in this area?

Is the casino nice? How about the club there?

What kinds of places should we go to in Cascais at night? We want to mix with locals and also tourists.

If we go to Lisbon only one night is Lux THE place to go???

How about site seeing? What are the must see places?

Thanks in advance.
