Supermarket / Local shops advice request

We will be staying in a rented villa near to the Balaia Sol Holiday club in June this year. I am aware that the Strip is about a 10 minute walk away but can anybody advise me if there are any small supermarkets / off licence type shops in the nearby area? Also are there any shops on the nearby Balaia Sol complex? I have looked on google maps and it is not clear. Any help would be gratefully appreciatred.

There is a small and expensive supermarket just past the bullring, maybe 12 -15 minutes walk from Balaia Sol. Just follow the main road into town and it's past the first roundabout on the right about another 200 yards. There's a branch of Soares off licence a couple of doors away.

(The strip is more like 15 minutes walk unless you are really fast!)

If you turn left at that first roundabout and walk down about 250 yards there is a reasonably decent supermarket there.

if you don't want to pay expensive corner shop prices, there is a large Pingo Doce supermarket about another 300 yards along the main road at the 'Worms' roundabout.

All the supermarkets here but the very smallest are open all day seven days a week.

The VERMELHA 2 (RED2) Giro bus stops at Balaia roundabout before going back along the main road and up to the bus station ... approx. 37 and 07 ... from 0737 to 2337 in June. Best go to the main supermarkets at Watches (Relogios) roundabout ... Continente within Modelo, or the larger Pingo Doce Belavista side ... as the RED2 doesn`t stop at Worms (smaller Pingo Doce) on the way back to Balaia. You`d get it back from Modelo stop at 00 and 30 ... when it stops at S Joao Arcades (Strip), Bull Ring market, top of Estrada Sta Eulalia, then Balaia. If you will use this a lot (no car) ... go to Bus Station first and get pre-paid fares 11.00 euro for 10... top ups at 80 cents ...the one card can be used by any number of people. Normal fare is 1.40, so you`ll save a lot.
