Galé is a fairly quiet area of mainly villas and holiday homes a couple of miles to the west of Albufeira. The main beach there is excellent, but might be quite a walk from wherever that villa is located as Galé is quite a spread out area.

They say it is a 10 minute walk from the little Manuel Lourenço beach. They didn't say it is a fairly steep hill coming back up!

There's a very decent, if slightly pricey, supermarket in Galé called Apolonia and numerous corner shops. The are restaurants, cafés and bars all over the place.

This map of mine might help you get your bearings

Enjoy your holiday.

Just returned from staying in this villa. Would not return.Everywhere a fair walk.Lourenco beach about 15mins but we did not have children in tow and the little restaurant there did not have a good menu for kids. Only couple of restaurants which i would say is a comfortable walk to. Most restaurants a good 25 mins walk. Have a couple of restaurants that have a pick up and return free taxi service. (Scoobys has pool, good bar and caters for children. Food good(english man).No where to change money, atm too far away. Scooby changed ours. Not alot of room for children to play around pool.Restaurants on gale beach expensive. for children £7.50 for nugget and chips. Area too quiet and spread out if you do not have a car.

We stayed in Villa Pacific in May with our 20 month old. Gale and lourenco beaches are walkable - about 15 mins and whilst Appollonia supermarket is pricey, there's a cheaper one practically over the road and a fab patisserie. We had a car, so hypermarket in the Algarve shopping centre is only about 15 mins drive, if that. Villa was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was basic, but had microwave and hob, which was fine for us. There isn't much room for playing around the pool area, but with kids your age, I think there would be plenty - not like you won't be keeping an eagle eye anyway! Very residential area, so quiet at night for the little people, but would recommend car if you prefer more Brit orientated areas. Villa didn't have much local info so pick up free map from bus stops which will help you get about and advertises local restaurants etc with reviews. Zoomarine very close which your 5yo will love. Was a great first holiday with our little one.
