We are staying here for a week from 14th Oct, does anyone know what the food is like, we have booked self catering but I understand from here you can book daily to use the restaurant, however we will probably eat in the old town as there are lots of nice places there. Also does anyone know the weather forecast for that week, i will be devasted if we dont have any sun!! What are the best bars in the old town area, are there any with music or entertainment? i read that there are nice bars off the square, which direction would they be in please? Will it still be lively in October? We will probably have a few beers up the new town too, we have been before so know our way around but was a few years ago and things change, dont want to miss out on anything.

That's a lot of questions! I can answer some.

I have never stayed in Brisa Sol but if you search 'Brisa Sol' in this forum you will find many recent reviews.

Weather wise hasn't been too kind down here for us lately with thunderstorms and rain. October 14th is too far ahead for a decent weather forecast but storms apart the temperatures should still be around 70F. But be prepared for a bit of rain!

The old town square is about ten minutes downhill walk from Brisa Sol. Just turn left out of the hotel, follow the main road in front of the Camara (Town Hall) then at the complicated junction go straight ahead and down the narrow road (Rua dos MFA) which will lead you into the square.

Most places in the square and nearby remain open and almost all have entertainment which does lead to a lot of competing DJ's and cover bands. Cannot say which is the 'best' but I am sure you will find one to your taste.
