 Christmas Eve in Brugge?

We are visiting Paris from Dec. 19th - Dec. 24th, after which we will be traveling to Bruges from dec 24-26. We're debating about staying in Paris for Christmas eve and leaving for Bruges on the 25th, mainly so we can catch the Christmas eve mass at Notre Dame (neither of us are Christians - but I've heard some great things about the mass.) Is it worth staying an extra night in Paris or should we leave for Bruges for Christmas Eve? In general, we were wondering if there will be enough shops/sights open in Brugge during 24-26 dec. Any advise would be much appreciated.

1. Re: Christmas Eve in Brugge?

Your question about whether it is worth spending Christmas Eve in Paris would be better asked in the Paris forum. Shops in Brugge will of course be closed on Friday 25 December and Sunday 27th, but open on the Saturday. The snow and ice sculpture festival will still be on (next to the railway station) and unless you particularly want to visit a specific museum or other "sight" (e.g. Choco-Story is closed for the whole of Christmas), what makes Brugge interesting is in my opinion not so much individual buildings you could visit, as the city itself, which you can see by just walking around.
