gare intercity train

We are flying into Brussels, Belgium. I read the gare intercity train

goes to Amsterdam and back. Does the train stop in the Netherlands; just inside the border. Also when we get off the jet;

where do we go to catch this train?

Intercity trains go all over the country, and to cities in other countries, including Amsterdam. Brussels Airport has a railway station on level -1, from which you can buy a ticket to Amsterdam (or wherever you want to go in the Netherlands) and catch a train to Brussels which stops at Gare du Nord, Gare centrale and Gare du Midi. You can change onto the Amsterdam (intercity) train at any of these, so the most convenient would be the first one, Gare du Nord, from where there is a direct train to Amsterdam at 49 minutes past every hour (weekdays; I didn't check the timetable for weekends as you did not specify date of arrival). After Bruxelles-Nord this train stops at:

Antwerpen Centraal

Roosendaal (first stop on the Dutch side of the border)

Rotterdam Centraal

Den Haag HS

Schiphol (Airport)

Amsterdam Centraal
