scenic route from kinderdijk to germany

We will be travelling from Amsterdam to the Rhine valley in Germany at the end of June. We will travel through Germany and then France before going through the Tunnel back to England. We have planned where to go in Germany but we don't want to zoom through Netherland to get there. We have looked at Kinderdijk and think that might be an interesting start to the journey. We could spend a few hours there and then move south . We would like to drive through old towns and historical places before stopping overnight in the Netherlands. Then the next day look at more places before we reach either Cochem or Koblenz to start our main part of the holiday. I'm sure if we like what we see we will be back another year. Could anybody give us advice on this. Perhaps Kinderdijk is not a good idea?please help.

Hi there,

Following the Rhine and then the Meuse might be nice. After Kinderdijk maybe Wijk bij Duurstede, quaint old port town. Then on/near the Meuse e.g. Thorn and Beek, cross the hills there and head into Eiffel with e.g. Monschau.

All the best,

Oops, meant Elsloo not Beek. They're twin villages sharing the same railway station.

All the best,

Be sure not to skip Rotterdam when travelling from Amsterdam to Kinderdijk (it's also a very nice boat trip: from the city center of Rotterdam to Kinderdijk by boat: …rotterdam.info/visitors/…

or:
