Also if we r only there for 4 days does it pay to buy a museum pass?

Going next week!

For a canal tour just pay your money and jump on a boat. A delightful hour or so. The boats and canal tours are pretty much the same for the basic 75 min tour. They are easy to find. Several options just up the street from central train station.

It's an easy city to get about in. Everyone speaks English. Public transportation is easy and not expensive. The city is compact and safe. And there is a lot of info here so you can arrange your time.

There is no need for a city tour. But there are highly recommended walking tours. Some free tours from sandman, tours of the RLD, WW2 tours. I have no idea if there is a tour that concentrates on Jewish issues or interests.

There are a lot of sites though such as the Jewish historical museum, Anne Frank House, etc. All of these are easy to find and do on your own.

No need for a Jewish tour or tour guide. Book tickets for the Anne Frank House on line (time specific) so you don't have to wait in the long lines.

From there I would suggest walking (about 30 minutes) or taking a tram to the Resistance Museum (this map shows the walking route - for tram route click on the tram icon in the upper left corner):

Once at the Resistance Museum, you will be in the middle of the Jewish Quarter and literally within a few block of the major sites and memorials. I think this is the best site giving a comprehensive overview (click on the tabs at the top of the page):

The only memorial not listed on this website (also in the immediate are) is the Auschwitz Memorial.

Oops - forgot. Be sure to check out the Dockworker Memorial in Meijer Square right next to the Portuguese Synagogue. It is a tribute to the only strike in support of the Jews during WWII.

If you wanted to do a Jewish tour, Naomi Koopmans gives a 3 hour tour. I have not been myself but her tour has very good reviews on here. Here is the youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKNIbd_gfGM

Here is the review page on here with 132 excellent ratings and 1 very good. tripadvisor.com/…REVIEWS
