Restaurant Ideas (have a teen girl)?

Visiting soon with husband and 13 yo daughter and staying at Doubletree Hotel by the train station. Looking for restaurant recommendations near the hotel (breakfast and dinner) and other restaurants in areas that would appeal to an American teen girl. Going to Anne Frank

Haus so breakfast near there also would be great. Thanks.

@MrOther, so was Anne. ;-)

EYE has good food and great views. Open from 10am. The shop of that film museum / cinema / restaurant is also nice. Take the free ferry from the north of Central Station to Buiksloterweg.

Near Anne Frank House I like Spanjer & Van Twist. Look up their opening hours.

By the way, I have no idea what you mean by 'a restaurant a teen might like'. Is that different?? I am not going to recommend McDonalds, sorry. You may want to try out FEBO though (google it).

FYI, in many guide books "haus" is the word that is used; in the U.S. we refer to it as Anne Frank's house or the Anne Frank House.

By a teen, I mean cuisine that isn't too sophisticated or an atmosphere that is stuffy. Besides we want to keep prices reasonable. I thought there may be places that are fun; certainly don't want McDonalds!

Are you familiar with a restaurant called "Pancakes?" That sounds good ;-)

There are thousands of restaurants and eateries all over the city. I really wouldn't worry about it now, unless you have allergies. Just have a look at eateries in the neighborhood where you happen to be when you're hungry, and decide whether you like it or not.

If they were good guide books then they would get the language correct would they not?

Near the Doubletree try Hanekes Boom. If you like Indian then Ganesha is great. You canalways try the Chinese floating restaurant in the harbour. For steak take the free ferry to the NSDM werf and eat at the new Loetje there.

Breakfast between your hotel and the AFH:

Consistently ranked as the top breakfast restaurant in Amsterdam (you want the Singel 103 Location):

I believe this is the Pancakes you are talking about (few blocks past the AFH):

Another pancake restaurant a few blocks short of the AFH:

I love this place - right next door to the AFH:

These next two places in my mind are very similar and their websites describe them:

http://www.lanskroon.nl/

This is a dinner restaurant about a 15 minute walk from your hotel. It is a little upscale but it has one of the most beautiful views of the canals you will find. I think your daughter would enjoy it.

Well, I to be honest IMO the correct name would be "Anne Frank Huis", it´s a dutch museum and not an english one...and a german one not as well.

-Vapiano is near your hotel! (2-3 minuts walk) it's italian food and it's very popular in Europe!

-La cubanita (unlimited tapas for 17,50 during the week), you need to reserve (online or via your hotel)

lacubanita.nl/….U5sBepTV8ds

-Sky Bar (in your hotel, top level) food is more expensive then usual but the view over Amsterdam is worth it!

Enjoy Amsterdam!

Have to tell you that I just saw in one guide book, "Anne Frank Huis!" Wanted you to know they are not all "wrong." Thanks for your open-mindedness ;-)
