What local beers to try?

Familiar with some Dutch beers, Heineken, Grolsch, Orangeboom, Amstel are what come to immediate mind. Would like to know which Dutch beers I should sample in Amsterdam that are unique or aren't available outside the country.

Do enjoy Belgian lambic and wheat beers, are there Dutch lambics/wheat beers too. If so what brands should I look for.

Thanks.

"Brouwerij 't IJ" and "De Prael" are two Amsterdam-based beer brewers that make several flavors. Why not try them all. ;-) My favorite is Natte by Brouwerij 't IJ, which is for sale in lots of Amsterdam's cafes these days.

Another Dutch beer you probably haven't tried yet is Texels Bier, for example Texels Noorderwind is delicious.

All you need to know about beer sampling, beer bars etc: iamsterdam.com/en-GB/experience/what-to-do/e…

De Biertuin is a relatively new and highly popular beer cafe that serves loads of different beers, grilled chicken and other food, and have heated outdoor seating.

No food, as ddavis said but their cheese platter is very nice. Not as cheap as the Gollum's though which seems cost less than the supermarket for the amount of cheese and bread you get. Great value.

The Gollum on the Overtoom also has a good food selection and a fantastic steak.

Food in De Prael is also decent.

I've heard good things about " de Bierfabriek" at Rokin. This restaurant that serves grilled chicken has it's own brewery inside! They homebrew two or three beers. From 6 persons or more you can reserve your own table that comes with a beer pump. You then pay by the liter. They have a limited menu, it's all about their chicken and beers. http://www.bierfabriek.com/home/ you can use this website:http://translate.google.com/ for translation as the website is in Dutch.
