1. Re: where are there nice shops

Best markets: Noordermarkt on Saturday (all day) or Monday morning. Albert Cuyp market Mon-Sat full day.

Nicest shops:

Utrechtsestraat

Haarlemmerstraat/ Haarlemmerdijk

Herenstraat, Prinsenstraat (not to be confused with Herengracht, Prinsengracht)

9 Straatjes

More about markets and shopping: iamsterdam.com/en-GB/…shopping

Where to eat depends on taste and budget.

What to do: see Top Questions on the right, and www.iamsterdam.com. A guidebook with maps could also come in handy.

If you have plenty of money or just want to window shop then the PC Hoofstraat is where all the designer shops are.

3. Re: where are there nice shops

IMO this street is a kind of upscale understatement, it´s looking very modest, like any normal street, and the shops as well. I had expected some kind of glamourous boulevard (like the Kö) but just nice little shops with famous brand names...

I second the suggestion for Haarlemmerstraat/ Haarlemmerdijk. Loved it!

Great, some good ideas here.

What about restaurants? We have booked the Supper Club for one eve. Suggestions for any good ones - (decent quality but not Michelin star standard)?

Do walk around the 9 straatjes, it is 9 little streets between the canals. So 3 streets paralel between Singel , Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht. Start from behind Dam square down Paleis straat. They are full with boutiques, cafes, galleries and food shops

Okay, good to hear the answers are useful to you because after 3 requests for more info about your tastes and interests, you still haven't answered that. Anyway, have fun!
