Standing out in Amsterdam

I'm 196 cm and about 90 kilo's, and I feel like people from Holland/Netherlands are always looking at me (no its not paranoia from the pot). Im American and half Italian/Irish slightly darker complexion for a "white guy" and just felt like I was looked at more normally in Tokyo. Just curious about a locals perspective...

Since you've just described a pretty typical Dutch man, I can't imagine that you or they actually think you stick out.

I have found that staring isn't really perceived as negative in Europe, as compared to the States. Perhaps this has something to do with it.

so just people from the NL stare at you?..no staring in germany or belgium?..maybe it is just amsterdam staring at you but if you went to rotterdam you would be normal looking.

It's that half Irish thing.

I am half Irish as well. And people look at me all the time when I am in Amsterdam.

One time it was because I forgot to pull up my zipper. You should always check that one first.

But most of the time I do not forget that.

It's a curse being half Irish. People just can't stop looking at you.

Lol, are you sure that you don´t imagine that people are staring at you? Because you have a pretty usual size, I know many guys in Germany who would be happy if they had only 90 kilos, while 196 cm...

Perhaps you are indeed pretty handsome, or you`re dressed up somewhat extravagant:-))?

In Tokyo you weren't looked at at all. Didn't you notice? Nobody looks at you in Tokyo. Westerners are carefully ignored, out of courtesy.
