Ballenberg Museum from Zurich

I am planning a day trip by train to the Ballenberg Museum from Zurich next week. Anyone have a suggestion to make this trip more fun?

Bring a bottle of wine with you?

The train ride goes through Lucerne into Kanton Obwalden, along the Sarner lake and beautiful countryside and up and over the Brunig. It's a gorgeous train ride.

The Museum itself is a located on a huge plot of land dotted with woods. You'll find authentic old houses along the paths. Some houses offer live demonstrations of traditional sausage making, etc. If you like history and architecture, you'll love Ballenberg. If you find it boring, go to one of the restaurants and order yourself a nice meal and a coffee with schnapps. That's fun too.

Or go shopping at the souvenier store at the west end. It's one of the best places for beautiful Swiss souveniers that I know of.

Train schedules are at http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?

From: Zürich

To: Ballenberg West

Via: Lucerne

The museum grounds do not open until 10:00 so there is no need to rush.
