There is a tiny airport near St. Moritz, but you have to hire a private jet to land there. Depends on your budget...

Otherwise Zurich is the closest airport - 3h44 by train.

The same is true for Oxford. Your closest airport is Heathrow unless you can afford private jets. If that's the case, your paying them to take care of the details!

fastest way (non-private jet) between St Moritz and Olbia around 9AM on the 17th of June.

Is there a commercial option? ie an airport within 100km of St Moritz we can taxi to then fly down?

If you take a taxi for 100 km in Switzerland, you can just as well hire a private jet.

Taxis mat be a cheap way of getting around where you live. Not in Switzerland, though.

Only Bern, Basel, Geneva and Zurich have any regular commercial, non-charter air service. I think there is a charter in winter in and out of Sion or is it Sierre? Anyway, you will need to go to Bern, Basel, Geneva or Zurich to fly out. Zurich is probably the closest and it takes just under 4 hours with two changes from St. Moritz to the Zurich airport station. A taxi will cost a small fortune from St. Moritz to Zurich and take about the same amount of time.

It takes slightly longer to get to Milan by train from St. Moritz but there are direct flights to Olbia from Milan.

Hope this helps.

Hi RajendraGoa,

Your best and easiest option, I think, is to use the trains. The train trip from Paris to St. Moritz will take about 8h, with changes in Zürich and Chur.

If you fly, it will take:

45 minutes to get from Paris to the airport

2h wait at the airport

1h fly to Zürich

15 minutes to get luggage

3h30 train from Zürich to St. Moritz

So flying is not really faster, and it has a lot more changes and hassles. If you decide to take the train, you can get fares as low as around 50 e.

You can get the train schedules and fares at

www.voyages-sncf.fr

or

www.tgv-europe.com

Good luck as you plan this!

Train - TGV to Zurich and then to Chur and finally to St. Moritz. It's about 8.5 hours. Flying - an hour out to the airport to arrive at least an hour before flight time, an hour's flight, 30-45 minutes to catch the train and then 3.5 hours to St. Moritz. So it's 7.5 to 8 hours by plane and a lot more messing around. Just go to the station Paris-Est, get on the TGV (high speed train), change in Zurich and then change in Chur - both easy changes and you are on comfortable trains all the way. You probably want to be on the TGV that leaves a bit after 8 AM and you may well need to get your reservations as soon as possible as they are sometimes full.

Hope this helps.

Milan to St. Moritz can be researched on the Swiss Rail website.

www.sbb.ch/en

Do you really want to leave central Paris with your luggage and head for the airport, hang out for your flight, arrive at the airport in Milan, collect your luggage, catch a train into central Milan and then catch more trains to get to St. Moritz or get one of the minibus transports????? Why not get on a train in central Paris and be nearly to Switzerland about the time your plane would have taken off????

Anyway, you can read above that the airport choices are Zurich, Milan, Geneva and Basel. From each of those you have to take some form of transportation to St. Moritz. If you wish to spend astronomical amounts of money you can get there by private plane or helicopter. otherwise you are limited to trains or road vehicle.

It doesn't really matter how you do this, it will take 7.5 to 8.5 hours if you use any form of pulbic transportation.

We've given you all the website info you need to research this and figure out what suits you. Hope you have a successful trip!
