G'day, I am planning a European road trip in 2009 for my partner and me. I would like one highlight to include a ski week in Switzerland. My preference of St. Moritz is due to general atmosphere and being able to drive in and out. As I am flexible with dates I was wondering if someone could advise the best time of year for me to plan a stay?
My partner has never seen snow (we are Aussies) and I want to include a few snow activities. Because this makes us outright beginners, I am not fussed about perfect conditions, just something to have some fun and experience a few different things. I thought avoiding the peak holiday season would be wise but I want to ensure I can still try a little skiing, so was thinking maybe March?
Whilst I am on your forum, I have been researching hotels and the Suvretta House stood out as it has a ski school and training slope at the hotel. Downside seems to be that it is not in the heart of the city and I enjoy a good nightlife. Is the Ski school thing a real bonus (make things easier?) and a good reason to give preference to this hotel, or can other more central hotels offer a similar service?
Thankyou, your advice will be greatly appreciated.
