car train under the alps

A couple of trips ago, we were driving through Switzerland to Italy and quite by chance (and a wrong turn !) found ourselves at a train station somewhere near Kloisters/Davos (I think). It was an open flat bed type of train and we had to drive onto it and stay in the car whilst it sped under the alps. The experience was quite surreal and it sounded like we were on a London underground train !

But we couldn't find it again on our next trips. Does anyone know where this is ??

Yes, it must definitively have been the Vereina tunnel, connecting Klosters with Lower Engadine. Not the most direct way from Switzerland to Italy, unless you like to visit Alto Adige, but a scenic route (apart from the section through the tunnel, lol!).

Beside of the Vereina there are also car trains for instance through Lötschberg from Kandersteg to Goppenstein (connecting Bernese Oberland and Valais) and through Furka from Oberwald to Realp. A good alternative if there is either no mountain pass or if the pass road is closed during winter time.
