I'll be travelling to Germany from November 20-December 4 and really want to go snowboarding in either the Bavarian or Swiss Alps. What will the snow conditions be like in the Alps and which resorts will be open? I'm hoping it's not too early..
In the Swiss Alps you can board year round at a few resorts. Zermatt has year round snow on the glacier and just had it's first snow of the season over the last 36 hours or so. You need to look for a resort over 1500 meters elevation. It's certainly too early for resorts at lower elevations.

Only big resorts open so early in the season and usually have a glacier part. Apart of Davos and Zermatt there are also www.engelberg.ch, www.verbier.ch, www.saas-fee.ch
The Davos website reports that it is expecting winter sports to commence in Mid November on the Jakobshorn and on the other slopes on 1st December. In the last 24hours 60cm of snow has fallen in the town and 80cm on the slopes where there is now over a metre of lying snow.
