Dec 15 Escalade traffic in Geneva

We will arrive from Montreux by train to Geneva Dec 15, hopefully around 1-2pm

will there be traffic control for the Escalade possession? if we have to take taxi from Train station to Metropole hotel? if yes, any suggestion for alternatives?

Should we arrive earlier?

There are two direct train per hour from Montreux. So I would arrive slightly earlier to be able to fully enjoy this very special day, wandering around the Old Town, going through the Passage Monetier (open once a year only), ...

No traffic diversion to be expected between the station and your hotel. Alternatives to get there were indicated in another thread.

Not only is the Escalade on on Dec 15 but also it is the last day of the Concours Hippique which is a very important horse show. That, however, is centered on the Palexpo at the airport. Trains coming into Geneva might be quite full. Not at all the usual Sunday for Geneva!
