There's a couple of viewing points for the falls one. Neuhausen and Shloss Laufen am Rheinfall you can reach them by train. You could easily spend a week at Luzern to see all the sights in the city and around the lake. check out www.rail.ch www.lakeluzern.ch and of course these forums.

Here's part of an answer: 1. About 50 kilometres - trains run every hour; trip time is a little over half an hour. You can probably manage to do it within half a day fairly easily. 2. Around Luzern there are the Rigi, the Bürgenstock, and of course the Pilatus. There is also the scenic GoldenPass route to Interlaken (and on to Montreux). 3. Besides the Jungfraujoch, you can visit Mürren and the Schilthorn with its revolving restaurant, the Trümmelbach Falls, the Aare gorges, take a trip to the Harder or on the Brienzersee (Lake of Brienz), or climb to the top of the Rothorn by means of the BRB steam cog railway...
