Travelling from florence to leaning tower of pisa

Next Wednesday at the end of a short stay in Florence we intend to visit the leaning tower before going from the tower to pisa airport for our flight back to the UK. Any thoughts and advice would be very welcome.

Train to Pisa Centrale, leave your luggage at the baggage deposit at the station. Take the pleasant 20 min walk across Pisa to the tower. Once back at Pisa Centrale and having collected your luggage you can train, bus or taxi the short distance to the airport.

Thanks for the quick reply, we plan to walk to the tower and back again to pick up the luggage and then go to the airport. Do you have an estimate for the time it will take to walk from the Station to the tower. We are keen to walk based on the info on trip advisor that suggests that its the best way to see the city.

It takes about 15-20 minutes, depending upon gait and a good map. It's a lovely walk. Walk out of the station, cross Piazza Vitem, and turn on to Corso Italia ... which leads you to the river (Arno), whereupon north of the river the street becomes Borgo Stretto. We usually like to wiggle through Piazza Vettovaglie; in the mornings, there's a lively market (selling mostly low-end stuff) and fruit/vegetable vendors who ply their trade throughout the day.

You'll walk through the rather pretty Piazza dei Cavalieri, at which point you're minutes away from Campo dei Miracoli.

If you have time, either coming or going, stop and have a coffee at Salza. It's a classy, Pisan institution.

You're welcome, Baracasolihull. From our point of view, the weather can only get better. You'll find Salza at Borgo Stretto, 46 (www.salza.it).
