Fiction books?

In the past, I have enjoyed reading historical fiction books for an area that I will be visiting. For example, before visiting the ruins at Pompeii, I read Pompeii by Robert Harris. It really gave me some context for my visit. Any suggested fiction books for a visit to Florence?

Actually, zuchero, the last time I was in the paperback exchange - less than a year ago, I was astounded at the paucity of books about Florence - and at how few of that handful were any good at all.

There is a far larger and better selection at BM books in the Borg'Ognissanti, just west of the Piazza Goldoni, at number 4R, I believe.
