My wife and I just got back from a two week tour of Florence (and the surrounding Tuscan countryside). One of the days we were there we signed up for a one day Montalcino wine tour with Rebecca Christophersen from Tuscany Wine Tours and it was the highlight of our time there. Rebecca speaks English very well and picked my wife and I up at a very centralized location in Florence. From there we went to a wonderfully run small vineyard right outside of Montalino where we were warmly greeted by the owners who had us sample their own delicious Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Sant'Antimo wines. Rebecca then brought us (and 4 other people as it was a joinable wine tour) to an agriturismo for a delicious mulitple-course Tuscan home cooked lunch complete with olive oil and vinegar tasting. If that wasn't enough, we were then brought to the ancient Fortezza (Fortress) of Montalcino where inside we tasted yet three more Brunello wines "in situ" made famous in Montalcino.
My wife and I easily count this day as our most memorable wine tasting and sight-seeing experience in Tuscany thus far. Rebecca's ph# is (+39)3203075574 and her website is www.tuscan-wine-tours.com
We would easily do another wine tour in Tuscany again with her the next time we return.
