When we were in Siracusa in 2009 there was a very helpful tourist information office in the via Roma in Ortigia. Is it still there, and will it be open in late April?

Yes, there is a tourist information office on Ortigia on via Roma, open every day (including Saturdays) until 18.00, and it’s also open on Sunday mornings.
The tourist information office on Ortigia at via della Maestranza is open weekdays from 8.30 to 13.45, also to 17.30 on Wednesdays, but closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
