palermo beaches

Hello, we are staying in Palermo for three nights next weekend. Are there beaches in Palermo itself thta you can walk to or do we need transport? we do not have a car and wondered how easy it is to get to Cefalu. This English summer has left us desperate to lie on a beach and feel the sun toast our bones!!

Palermo is a port city with no beaches.

Mondello is Palermo's beach.

Take AMAT 806 from Politeama to Mondello’s beach.

Or you could take the train or SAIS Trasporti bus from Palermo to Cefalù.

Enjoy!

sorry for taking so long to reply. Thankyou for your suggestions. I think we'll try and explore Mondello! Only a couple of days to go!!

Often a city that has shoreline doesn't have beaches for people. Gary, Indiana has lots of Lake Michigan shoreline but no beaches for people to swim at. Due to the efforts of Aaron Montgomery Wards for preserving Lake Michigan shoreline, Chicago on the other hand has lot of nice beaches in Lincoln park all along Lake Michigan.

And back to Palermo - Mondello is your nearest beach to Palermo.
