islands of Lampedusa and Linosa

We will be in Sicily in Sept, landing in Catania & departing from Palermo. We like to see the islands of LAMPEDUSA and LINOSA. Which city has easier transportation to LAMPEDUSA and LINOSA, Catania or Palermo?

Not worth it - December is not beach season in Sicily!

Hi again Vagabonda,

Thought so. We're not beach folks anyways. Was just wondering if there were any other exploration ideas for any of the islands that I don't want to miss (hiking on any of the Aoelian Islands, etc.)

Thank you so much for your help.

We're now thinking of travelling a few days earlier, flying into Palermo, rather than Catania. We'd prefer taking the train to Agrigento, going by bus Porto Empedocle and taking the boat to Linos. Do you have links to the train & bus schedules?

How much time should we allow for the train ride and the connecting bus to Porto Empedocle?

Prego pat_t_cakes317,

You could take the train from Palermo to Agrigento, 2 hours.

Cuffaro also runs direct bus service between Palermo and Agrigento, 2 hours.

Then Sal runs bus service from Agrigento to Porto Empedocle.

But Lumia runs direct bus service from Palermo to Porto Empedocle.

No Rabbit beach is about 100+ miles ofc the the coast of Sicily on it's island of Lampedusa. Either a connecting 1 hour flight with a domestic airline or N overnight ferry ride away.
