Meridiana had run service from Palermo and Catania to Lampedusa, but there’s no service on Meridiana at this time.
Darwin runs direct flights from Catania (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) or Palermo (every day) to Lampedusa.

Ustica Lines runs service from Porto Empedocle near Agrigento to Lampedusa and Linosa from 20 June until 10 September.

There is also the SIREMAR overnight car ferry from Porto Empedocle to both Linosa and Lampedusa, year-round.
You can find the Siremar schedule to March- http://www.siremar.it/images/Orari-2013.pdf
If flying, Palermo is the better option.

Edited: 12:19 pm, February 17, 2013Greetings!
I am trying to figure out where I should travel to from Venice (and I'm looking to stay at a chain hotel Sheraton collections). Im thinking Porto Cervo or Sicily, both seem to be a short plan ride away.
How far is Rabbit beach from Catania (there is a Sheraton there) and is it accessible from this area?
Thanks
Rabbit beach is on Lampedusa, so all the information provided in the posts above about accessing Lampedusa provides the answer to your question.
I am planning to visit these islands in December, 2013 and January 2014. Given the weather that time of year, is it worth it?
I was thinking that Rabbit beach would be like and hour or so by ferry, the schedule wasn't comprehensive for me can you add?
Just seeking a beautiful beach to visit for 4 days, coming from Venice and I'm not sure whats feasible as far as accessibility.. etc
thanks so much!
As mentioned in post #1, the ferry leaves from Porto Empedocle, which is approximately 2.5 hours one-way by car from Catania. As mentioned in post #1, Ustica ferry runs in the summer months. It takes 4.25 hours one-way. As mentioned in post #2, Siremar runs an overnight ferry year-round, also from Porto Empedocle. But I can't find the Lampedusa schedule on their website.
There are so many beautiful beaches on mainland Sicily. With only four days, Lampedusa seems like quite a stretch. You could fly into Palermo (or perhaps Trapani) and go to San Vito lo Capo or Selinunte.
Welcome to Sicily ladell c!
Rabbit Island is far from Catania although you could fly – It’s not the most convenient place to reach.
This is a rural beach and not what most tourists are expecting -

Sardinia would probably better meet your expectations!
