I've just returned from Alghero - mixed reports really. On the sea wall there are a number of restaurants - mostly expensive. Muraglia - avoid at all costs. Macchievello - rude maitre'd so we didn't bother. Mirador - nice food but fussy presentation. We liked La Lanterna and also the Steak House (on the longamare just south of the old town - 5 minutes walk)

On average, for 2 we paid 60/65 euros for dinner. There were several others that looked okay and seemed to be recommended, but we didn't get around to them. Vecchio Mullino, Ostaria Paradiso, Lapanto, Pavonne - these would have been on our list if we had stayed longer.

Whenever we go to Sardinia, we never spend more than 50 for 2. This usually includes 2 starters, 2 mains, wine and coffee.

Bella Napoli and Casablanca are 2 of the best restaurants in Alghero, Casablanca being the slightly more expensive choice.

Well we ate at the Muraglia several times, think it depends which waiter serves you, we had one disaster but we are all human It was quickly rctified by the lady who seems to be in charge, who also b******ed the waiter , don't think she knew I understand some Italian !

Lunch snacks are marvellous most places in the snack bars , paninis and coffee or beer ice cream or dessert cant be bad

Just came back from a 3 night break and we ate evening meals at Bella Napoli, Vecchio Mullino and Al Tuguri. All were excellent and very resonable. We paid approx 40 euros in the first two and at Al Tuguri, we had a 5 course dinner, beer and wine and it came to 100 euros.
