the Sheraton is in the industrial zone of Bozen, on weekdays there is a bus connection with the city... but only at day.
Greetings from Bozen
Did you take the Sheraton, and if so -- what was your impression?
The Four Points Sheraton Bozen/Bolzano is definately not the best hotel for tourists as it's far away from the city center in an industrial and fairtrade area. There is a bus service to the city center but only on Mon-Fri.
I posted the original message in this thread, inquiring about the Four Points Sheraton Bolzano. My wife and I did wind up staying at the Four Points since we were using Starwood miles. What has previously been said about the hotel being in an industrial zone is correct: the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. However, we were more than pleasantly surprised once we arrived at the hotel. The rooms have a tastefully modern and minimalist design. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious. And the health club with pool and sauna on the top floor with a view of the Alps was very nice. Each morning at about 10 or 10:30, the local 20- and 30-something crowd from the surrounding offices would congregate in the chic bar/cafe in the hotel.
We had the big advantage of having a vehicle, so the location didn't matter too much. The rack rate during our visit (Oct '05) was 130 Euro. I thought that this was pretty reasonable as it included a wonderful buffet breakfast (although as I said, we used miles). However, I think you can find cheaper rates for this hotel.
If you really want a hotel in the middle of the action, I would recommend the Hotel Greif. It's not cheap but it's cool:
Thanks Ratoncito, that helps my decision.
