Best way to Camogli/SML/Portofino from Rapallo |
|
Hello, trying to figure out the best way to see Camogli, SML, Portofino from my base in Rapallo. I have a car if that is a good choiceI , otherwise am interested in the ferry as a second option if available and more convenient. I am trying to make the best use of my time to see these areas but not be "rushed". I appreciate any advice... Also, would love any suggestions on "must see or do" Ciao |

I should note, traveling this mid September...as that probably effects boat ferries.

Hi, I missed our last question from the CT. It never posted on my email. my suggestion for the walks were for people who do a little walking. Yes, you can walk all of the villages. The walk which ends at the train station in Corniglia then reqires you to walk up alot of stairs in order to continue to Vernazza. Iam always with alot of lazy people so I ususally don't suggst it. However, if you would like to try it then enjoy. It will be a very tiring day so be flexible if you want to stop. From Rapallo, to the other towns mentioned, it is a close drive with the car. It's sort of like driving from Coto to Rancho Santa Margarita. We have always found parking. It's expensive, but what isn't in Italy these days. You should try to do at least one ferry ride in this area. You can see all the towns from the sea. There are, also local buses which are running between all these locations. WE have spent a couple of summers in the past at the Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi in Camogli. It has such a lovely position on the water. We now spend more time in Levanto nearer the CT. I think that you will love this Ligurian Coast. Enjoy!!

I would suggest: train to Camogli, walk around the bay to the harbour, boat to San Frutuosa, another boat to Portofino, bus to SML, getting off at one end of the bay and then walking around the bay to the station and train back. We did similar but starting at Camogli and it was a day well spent.
