Insight Tours-Easy Pace Italy

Has anyone done the "Easy Pace Italy" tour with Insights? It is Rome-Florence-Venice. Please let me know your thoughts on it.

Anne K: did you take the Insight "Easy Pace Tour?" We are considering the same tour for May 2013 and would love feedback. Thanks.

I've done 1 Insight Tour, and alot of Cosmos/Globus tours. Frankly, this just seems like they take you to the 3 cities, they pick the hotels, and maybe show you around (some of the free highlights). You are probably on your own the rest of the time. They probably take care of the transpo--(bus) as well....They may also take care of b'fasts and maybe 1 or 2 dinners. I would recommend a good guidebook to these cities (or a "Let's Go Italy") for things you may want to do on your own. I am also pretty sure that they would offer some ecursions if you don't want to DIY. ALl 3 cities are very e-z to navigate on your own. Hope this helps....Have a good time no matter what you decide.

SO how did you all get on with your tours?

We are considering either a tour or DIY

Its the transporting from one place to another that seems to be difficult.

I guess we will have to make up our minds soon!!

Love to hear how you got on.

Did any of you consider Intrepid Journeys?

Many thanks

Italy has an excellent train system so a DIY trip is in fact quite easy. Especially if it is a Rome - Florence - Venice itinerary as mentioned by the OP. It may be different if you want to go to a location that is not so well served by the trains.

If you are considering DIY - can you say what you think is difficult about getting from one place to the other because it is all very very easy to do. Trains run frequently to these three cities and it is easy to navigate the stations, etc. The only thing that I think most people make a mistake with is in bringing too much or too heavy luggage.

But, say what you think is difficult and maybe we can respond to your concerns.

We have planned and traveled independently to Italy, Austria/Germany and France (3 separate trips with multiple cities on each trip). They were wonderful trips and all went smoothly. The trips did require time consuming research and did create some stress.

For the upcoming 2013 Italy tour, we are selecting a "tour" because we want to relax with the planning process and the trip. We do not want to do all the research on airport transfers, trains, metros, buying tickets for the right day for museums/concerts/day tours, transporting luggage, hotel selection, etc. for multiple cities.

After much research and TA reviews, we are leaning toward either Rick Steves or Queenslander Tours. They are small group and more suited to our travel needs and tour preferences.

Would be interested to hear what others decide. Good Luck and Enjoy!

My husband and I took the Insight Vacations Easy Pace Italy tour in early October last year. It was our 40th anniversary and had been on my "bucket list" to go to Italy for 20 years. We actually didn't think that we could financially swing it, but decided to when that week came up with a sale price of $1500 savings off the regular price.

We had a month to plan it before we left. All I can say is that it was an AMAZING 10 days!! We loved everything about it (granted, we had never traveled on an escorted tour before and never gone to Europe), so didn't quite know what to expect. We didn't want to worry about logistics, food, hotels, transportation, etc. This tour gave us 3 days in Rome, Florence, and Venice. Hotels were excellent! Breakfasts were included, which were always very good. The pace of the tour was perfect... The bus was quite comfortable and roomy. Gino, the driver was amazing how he could navigate thru those narrow Italian streets of Rome. He had the entire bus applauding his maneuvers! Our Tour Director, Michael F., was a retired history teacher who gave us so much interesting facts as we traveled -- without being boring.

There was a great mix of travelers on our tour (older couples, younger couples, some singles, and some moms with their adult daughters). The optional excursions were excellent values, but there was no pressure at all to sign up. We did many of them, as they were sites and experiences we wanted to do. The food, wine, and meals that were included couldn't have been better... Especially the wine flowed. We had time in each location to explore on our own, so still had time to ourselves if we wanted it...

I wouldn't hesitate one bit to go on this tour. We were so happy with it that we actually wrote a letter to Insight complementing them on their quality tour and, especially, their Tour Director, who made our trip so

memorable. I can honestly say that we experienced a trip of a lifetime and wouldn't have changed anything...

I'd be happy to answer any particular questions that you may have.
