Leaving for Rome/Florence/Venice on Friday can anyone tell me what the weather is like right now?

we just returned from Rome and Siena this past Thursday. The weather was sunny and around 70 in Siena. It was also in the low 70's and rained most of the time in Rome, but only torrential downpours on one day. There were rain free periods in the evening which made it nice for walking around the piazzas and seeing the monuments at night. I heard that is was an unusually rainy October and it looks like this week will be more of the same. You can still have a nice time if it rains. Come prepared with layered clothing--it can be warm one hour and very cool the next. Never go out without a small umbrella and even though sneakers are comfortable, they can be quite uncomfortable when filled with water(th rain pools in the cobbles during heavy downpours and can soak your feet when you are doing a lot of walking). It is best to wear a good pair of comfortable walking shoes. The evenings were between 55 and 60 and a light sweater or jacket worked fine for us. If it rains a lot, don't let it get you down--you will be in a beautiful place and it is still beautiful in the rain. When we finally had a completely rain free day, after 4 straight days of rain, the sun seemed more beautuful than it had ever been because we had not seen it in so long.Have a wonderful trip.

3. Re: weather

I'm also leaving for Rome on Friday and I've been checking weather reports all over the internet. The problem is every one of them gives me a different forecast. One says rain showers from Saturday through Wednesday, the other says rain on Saturday, but sunshine for Sunday, Monday, Tues., Wed. I guess ultimately it doesn't matter. I was already planning on bringing a raincoat and umbrella.

The forecasts were exactly the same when we went . some showed rain when the others forecasted sun. It rained off and on for 2 days, then torrential downpours one day. The fourth day was sun all day then light showers at night. no two forecasts were the same before we left. When we left for Siena on the 5th day, it was sunny every day although the forecasts were calling for rain. Ignore the forecasts and have a great time. One good word of advice for the ladies--if you are walking all day in the rain, the bottom 3-4 inches of your pants will be soaked. My husbands pants were very wet on the bottoms. I had casual skirts on with bare legs and sandals and did not have this problem. Bring clothes that dry quickly if you can. November is usually rainier than October so maybe things will reverse and November will have more pleasant weather.
