I am currently planning a trip for my mother and I in Rome. We were hoping to visit the Vatican museums on Wednesday July 22nd. I was interested in booking a Vatican run tour for that date but if you try to book online, that date and pretty much no other dates are available. I know I read that many people fax their requests to the Vatican (but at least a month in advance). In your opinion is it too late to attempt to try to book a Vatican run tour? If not, what is included in a fax or email to the Vatican requesting a reservation? I was also looking at some private tour companies -- are these able to jump the lines as they claim?
