They only allow very small hand bags inside the scavi tour. Just take it to the check service to be sure you are not turned away. As Zerlina says, the bag check is to the right of the basilica.

You should be fine with capri pants and make sure your shoulders are covered.

We just returned from Rome and the Scavi tour was one of our favorites. I do not think that they will allow your large camera bag. Also, remember, no photos are allowed on the tour. I wore capris and had no problems.

Will a skirt to the knee be ok. Its one of my favourites, so cool.

I also have tickets and cant wait, its my first visit to Rome.

Anything that covers your knees is definitely fine. I have seen them allow in women with skirts or pants that just reached the knee, but opinions differ from one guard to the other, so I wouldn't count on it.
