 Apartment with romepower.com

I am looking at renting an apartment through Romepower.com

I don't know if any of you have had any experience with this agency, or could give me any advice. The apartment is called "Navona" and is located on Via dei Cimatori, near to Via Guilia. It says it's in the Pantheon area.

Can anyone tell me if this seems like a good location, what's nearby, would there be any potential problems? We're a family of 4, kids are aged 21 and 17, so I guess not so much "kids".

Thanks!

Elizabeth,

If you get a chance to get a nice map of Rome you should do so before renting. I've rented nearby on Via Banchi Vecchi in the past and really liked that apartment but I recall that beyond that the noise from the main roads (Corso and Lungotevere) a bus stop can be a little bothersome. Maybe Rome70 will reply and help you out a little more.

We'll be staying on the via Giulia this fall about a quarter mile from there. I like the neighborhood there and there are plenty of coffee bars, grocery stores and restaurants nearby. So on those counts I think you'll enjoy the area. It's convenient to St. Peter's, Navonna, Campo d. Fiori, Pantheon, Trevi, etc.

Have a great time in Rome!

Ciao Elizabeth and EC1, Romepower have a good map at the bottom of the page, but if you want to see the whole area why not look on google earth. Via dei Cimatori looks fine, but corso Vittorio Emanuele II is a medium busy road. If you walk west (?), to the right along this Corso until Piazza di San Pantaleo you'll be just under Piazza Navona. If you go left and over the bridge you'll be at St. Peter's. Although the nicest bridge to go over is Ponte Sant' Angelo.

Good area for walking to all the sights, or you can pick the bus up from Corso V E II easily to take you to the forum etc.

The street is very small and plain. I know it very well. You will be between lovely Via Giulia (and, in fact, around the block from Raphael's old house and Chiesa Fiorentini, where the great Borromini is buried--he used to live here too) and the busy, but very handy Corso Vittorio II. I love the location because you are near Navona, Campo dei Fiori, the Vatican etc., and, with time, can walk everywhere. When you want to take a bus it's very easy; just walk up to the Corso Vittorio and catch one straight down to the Piazza Venezia to get to the Forums, the Trevi and more.

It will be silent at night, but you have a few nice restaurants nearby, you are around the corner from a wonderful coffee shop (two actually, one on Via Giulia and one on the Corso Vittorio; the former are artists, making cappuccino with hearts on top, the other is excellent, Roman coffee, no nonsense). You will also have a large grocery store just next to the coffee shop on Corso, a charming family-run cut pizza and bakery place on via Banchi Vecchi, and the nicest set of characters a neighborhood can have.

I can not speak for the apartment, but I can say that RomePower have been in business a long time and are very reputable.

Wow, thanks for your help everyone! It does sound like a good location, I'm excited. I'm just trying to get my family to agree on dates so we can book it.

Hi,

We rented from Romepower three years ago and were very pleased with their service. As I recall, we dealt with a gentleman named Marco who was great. I asked Marco for a couple of restaurant recommendations which we liked, Gusto which was close to our apartment and a Sicilian restaurant (Sicilian la boca, ?) where we took a cab.

They arranged for our airport pickup and dropoff and made sure we had a large car for our party of five and luggage. They actually have offices not far from St. Peter's. It was nice to know we were dealing with a real business with a bricks and mortar location in Rome and not just someone on the phone from who knows where. We finished the contract there, paid the balance of the charge via credit card, and then were taken to our apartment. It was more convenient than our prior apartment stay with another agency where we had to call them upon arrivial and then make it to the apartment on our own and then pay the owner a large sum of cash.

Good luck, have a great time.

Jeff
