Stayed there for a week at the begining of August 2007.
It is an old Colonial house and the Italian owner has built 4 appartments/residences in the gardens/grounds. Each of the units is detached and althought there is no allocated space within the large garden/grounds there is plenty of room and you can consider the bit of garden round your appartment as "belonging to you".
We were a family of four (two daughters -13 and 10) and stayed in the 3 bedroom appartment. The furniture was fairly basic but it was clean and there was plenty of space.
Within the garden there is a swimiing pool surronded by sun beds. There were three other English families (similar to us in the other appartments) and it never felt crowded. There was always sunbeds available.
The location is ideal and it is 10 minutes walk to Sorrento's main square. However when sat round the pool it is very peaceful, not overlooked and you feel like you could be miles away from the centre of a busy holiday resort.
I would recomend the appartments if your looking for somewhere to saty in Sorrento.
A couple of final points. It is very difficult to find even with a map of Sorrento. We needed to park the hire car and go looking on foot. However when you know where it is it is easy to drive to. Sorrento and the whole region is very very busy in August. Unless you've no alternative you do not want to be driving round Sorrento and the surronding area.
Thanks for that.
We have been offered a fifth apartment which does not appear on the website. It is apparently new.
We are going in September. Did you see a fifth apartment?
We're looking at the 2 bedroom apartment (Amalfi) for 2 weeks in mid-October.
Can anyone tell me how well these apartments are furnished? I can't tell from the photos how well equiped they are in terms of clothes storage (wardrobes, chest-of-drawers etc).
I'd also be interested in the quality / cleanliness of the bathrooms, as there are no photos of them. Did the air-conditioning/heating work OK? Were there any restrictions on when it could be used?
Was there any cleaning done, other than at the end of each week?
What are the roads like for walking in & out of the centre? Any pavements or street lighting?
Any other good/bad comments, please?
The area & gardens look OK, but I'd like to hear any opinions on the interior of the apartments, especially as we'll be there when it'll be cooler, as well as dark by 6pm, so I guess we'll be inside more than outside!
Furnishing is fairly basic with old wodden wardrobes and cupboards. Tiled floors.
Clean at the begining of the week but no mid week cleaning.
Bathroom was fairly basic but adequate.
Air conditioning was fine - we had it on all night. During the day we had the windoes wide open. We were there in August so didn't use the heating.
10 minute walk into the centre. There are pavements and lighting - walk is fine if a little up hill when coming back from the centre.
It is not five star hotel accommodation. It is not a place that you want to be spending long winter evenings.
It is for the Summer to use as a base for exploring the area, sitting in the gardens and by the pool.
It's big pluses for our family was it's very central location and the pool and gardens.
