no head for heights

At end of late Sept week in Sorrento we have a long day to fill before naples flight. Been thinking of private taxi along amalfi coast to airport, they take you to 3 towns and sounds fun. Husband . However has heights fear. He's OK in a car (can close eyes!!) But would find hard to walk down a cliff or close edges. Would it be mad to try this tour?

Only your husband can answer this. My dear late husband also suffered from heights. He said it was a physical hurt as if someone with long nails had grabbed his ... Your husband knows what he can do and what he can't. Leave it to him. And tell him that being brave but having a miserable time, won't make it happy for you either

There's no reason for him to be walking down a cliff or close edges; you can be dropped off inside the villages - the heart of the Amalfi village is a flat road that runs through the village with shops/restaurants on either side and the walkway by the sea is flat. In Positano, there are steps to go down from the main little internal road (Viale Pasitea) if you want to walk down through the pedestrian only part of the village to the sea/beach. It is not hanging from a cliff - it just has steps and declines/inclines but it is all lined with shops, etc.

The beach in Positano, again, is flat.

This is not a worry at all. He should not look out the window towards the sea when in the car as he will see the steep drop to the sea. Just tell him to keep his eyes to the mountain side of the road - he'll be fine.
