Metro tickets

Hi we are travelling to Valencia for half term, Mon to Fri , 2 adults and two children ages 13 and 9. Could anyone tell me which would be the best ticket to buy for the metro. Have read that the bonometro ticket can be used by all four of us, is this correct?

We are planning to visit the Biopark, Aquarium , the old town and hopefully a trip to the beach and port. Any tips for travel would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Nick

Hello - the places you list are in Zone A on the metro system, or the closest metro station is. The bonometro can be used by two or more people making the same journey. Have a look at the zone map on the metrovalencia map and work out how many journeys you are likely to make then have a look at the following page to work out what ticket(s) you need:

Not sure where you are staying but it may well cost the same or even be cheaper to get a taxi to your accommodation, assuming you arrive at the airport.

Public transport in Valencia is very good - EMT (the bus company) also has an English language version of its website where you can look into getting around by bus, which you may find more useful as the metro stops in the central part of the city are limited. Valencia is compact so you may find you do more walking than you anticipated.

Agreed metro system is very efficient and simple to figure out; however buying tickets is a nightmare. You can get the "sencillo" pass - which expires within 30 minutes of purchase no matter how much money you put in it. Didn't know until I went into the info desk, since we had bought tickets in advance and had stopped working. So if you are going to take the metro several times in one day, explore other options. Also, make sure you don't keep buying the "sencillo" ticket - every time you purchase a card, you get a 1euro surcharge. But once you get one, you can refill it - but again have to use within 30 minutes of recharging it.

Once you have the card you need to choose the recharge (recargar) card option on the ticket machine rather than buying a new ticket. You can change the language on the ticket machine to English. There isn't always an attendant in the ticket office at the stations. I agree that it isn't obvious or straightforward, especially if you don't understand any Spanish.

It appears that the T1/T2/ or T3 Metro "day" card is the one to get without any time limit during the full day/s.

Am I right in this assumption ?
