Temps de flors 2014

Traveling to Girona May 15-17, 2014. Any idea if these dates will coincide with the festival next year?

Yes, your timing is perfect. The Temps de Flors will run from Saturday 10 May to Sunday 18 May. If this is your first time you are in for a treat. One bit of advice though I suggest you try to get around and take your photos etc midweek as it can get very busy at the weekend, particularly if the weather is nice.

You can see all the installations in 1 full day if started early and organised but realistically a leisurely 2 days is best as you will also experience a real buzz in the evening if you stop over for at least 1 night although, again, 2 nights is probably best. There are events on at the weekend and in the theatres but unless you are a Spanish or Catalan speaker these probably won't appeal but there are numerous street events and entertainers on at most times anyway. I would suggest Wednesday and Thursday are the best days purely based on the weather forecast for this particular year and crowds. In the morning there will be a few bus trips so, if you want better photos, late afternoon and early evening are best for the flowers and morning best for general sightseeing, city walls, rambla etc.

As for staying all the flowers are in the old town so an apartment in the heart of the barri vell or just over the river in the new town but close to the old is best. However, if you havent booked somewhere by now you might be struggling to get any availability. If so, staying in Barcelona, near Sants, maybe an option as it is only 35 mins by high speed train to Girona.

If you want to also visit Dali then probably a good time to go as Figueres should be quiet as everybody else will be in Girona!

It is also only one stop away on the high speed line.

The programme for the Temps is only printed in catalan but really all you need is a map which you can get from the tourist office on the Rambla.
